AYSO 114 Long Beach

Welcome to Region 114 Fall 2020 Season

Our goal this soccer season is to provide a safe and fun environment for kids to play soccer -- in whatever form we can. As restrictions change, our Fall program will change to support the maximum, allowable soccer experience for our kids.

Everything about this 2020 season is different -- from the way practices are conducted, to what types of games we are allowed to play on Saturdays. While some AYSO regions have decided to pack it in, we want to offer soccer to the community. We're trying new things that we've never done before -- we appreciate your flexibility as this is a growing year for ALL of us.

Most importantly, we need your help to observe rules on social distancing so we can all have a safe, fair, and fun Fall soccer season.

Region 114 Core teams practice once per week at Heartwell Park on Field 7. A centralized First Touch Trainer will lead several teams through skill moves. Players of each team are supported by their Head and Assistant Coaches who assist them in performing the skills demonstrated.

Core practices begin the week of September 21st. Each team is assigned a time-slot and color-coded practice spot on field 7. Seethe above Practice Schedule & map.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Only registered participants and volunteers are allowed beyond the practice boundary. Parents may walk their player up to the screening station, but will not be allowed into the training areas.*
  • All players must check-in at the Field 7 Check-in Area near the Parking Lot off Carson and Woodruff for temperature and symptom check.
  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled training time to allow for parking, screening and temperature checks. All players must be screened here no matter where you park.
  • Upon successfully clearing check-in, players should proceed to their designated Staging Area (indicated on the Field 7 practice map) until the previous group has left the field.
  • Everyone is required to wear a face covering and the players may remove them once training begins.

Please observe all COVID-19 safety measures indicated below.

* Parents of our U5 and U6 divisions will be allowed to stay and spectate as long as they follow safety our protocols, wear a face cover, and social distance. There will be space for this around Field 7. All other parents may wait in their vehicles or return at the time of pick up. Only registered volunteers, coaches and First Touch trainers will be allowed on to the field or near the training pods.

Challenge Saturdays

Challenge Saturdays

Until games are allowed, Game Day Saturdays are now Challenge Saturdays! Each week our partners at First Touch Training will post a video challenging your players to see how many repetitions they can perform of several soccer skill moves. At game time on Saturdays, your team will rotate among several stations to compete and see how many of that week's moves they can perform. Scores will be kept and posted to the Region 114 Leaderboard.

Challenge Saturdays begin September 26th. Please observe COVID-restrictions below. Visit the Region 114 Challenge Saturdays page for more information.

Fall 2020 Coaches

Info For Coaches

Rosters

You should have already received your rosters. You can access your roster by signing into your ayso114.org account. However, if you need your roster again, please let Coach Administrator Thomas Tyler know. You will also get a finalized roster when you pick up your equipment. Look it over as there might have been some changes. Please contact your team as soon as possible. If a player tells you they are no longer participating, please let us know. Finally, if you are unable to get a response from a player, let us know and we will assist in getting in contact with the player.

Equipment Pick-Up

Coaches may pick up equipment Monday, Sept 14th from 5-7pm and Wednesday Sept 16th from 4:30-5:30pm, at the AYSO Container (near Field 8). The equipment this year will consist of balls, masks, sanitizer, wipes, etc. If you cannot make those times, please send an email to Coach Administrator Thomas Tyler to make other arrangements. You can also wait until the day of your scheduled training to pick up your equipment. Remember, First Touch trainers will be responsible for setting up the training area. No cones or goals will be needed.

COVID Safety Guideines

In order to participate in organized youth sports we must all follow strict guidelines. Please familiarize yourselves with the protocols. Even though these were sent out to all families, we will rely upon you to communicate the guidelines to your teams.

A few highlights:

  1. Coaches must wear masks at all times.
  2. Parents must wear masks dropping off and picking up kids.
  3. Only coaches and assigned volunteers are allowed near practice areas.
  4. All players will need to check in at a designated location. At the location, they will be screened prior to being allowed to practice (temp checks, etc.)
  5. Players must wear masks coming to and leaving practice. During practice they will be allowed to remove masks.
  6. No sharing of items. Players must bring their own water and ball and are encouraged to have hand sanitizer.
  7. Players will have designated spots to place their water, etc., 6 feet from other players.
  8. Only non-contact training is permitted at this time.

These are all probably things you have been doing in your lives the past 6 months. My guess is the most difficult thing is getting parents, especially in the younger ages, to stay away from the practice areas. I tell my parents to just stay in their cars.

COVID-19 Safety

COVID-19 Safety Measures

Here's how you can help us support COVID-19 Restrictions so we can be allowed to rent park space through the City of Long Beach:

  • Skill exercises will be structured to support a safe 6' distance among players. Please maintain a 6' distance at all public spaces and fields.
  • Adults must wear masks at all times. Players may remove their mask when performing skill exercises.
  • Before going to your assigned field/Coach, all players must check-in at the Region 114 Tent.
  • All players will be given a temperature check before they are allowed to participate. Any player with an elevated temperature above 100.4 will be asked to leave.
  • No sharing food, snacks, water, etc. among players who are not housed together.
  • To reduce congested walkways and parking lots, please leave fields promptly when practices / games / competitions are completed.

This video from First Touch Summer Camps describes the same guidelines to which our 2020 Fall program will adhere:
