Blue bounds forward

Sunshine and a warming autumn morning greated the HFC U14B Blue on the pitch this morning for game 5 of league play against the red Warriors of Dayton (Huber Heights).

The Hilliard boys in blue came to play. Initially, they seemed a bit slow to engage but quickly gained monentum as passes connected and they pushed the ball forward. Tavo sets up Christian who decisively blasts the ball into the back of the net for our first goal. The second goal of the game was scored on a free kick, taken by Alexis. The ball was beautifully struck and just as beautifully dropped into the back of the net & beyond the keeper's reach. HFC possessed well in the first half, controlling the speed of play and dominating movement. Half time score: 2-0

The second half of play started just as strong, although the Warriors showed that they did not intend to succumb to our strength of play. They kept the pressure up and got a couple of good shots on goal. Botsko was there to stop them, and kept things contained early on. Just when it seemed the momentum was switching to red, Tavo siezed control of the middle. Flanked and paced by two quick defenders, T moved the ball straight down the middle of the pitch. Just when it looked like the two pinchers of the Warriors defense would squeeze tight & dispossess him of the ball, he back-heeled it over his head, accelerated, and destroyed the keeper's confidence with a decisive strike on goal. 3-0, HFC.

CJ & Gajda dominated the east line & made several great give-and-gos. Austin, Zach, & Will held the back, and Isaiah, Jake B & Tavo dominated the middle, with help from Jhonny. Alexis, Jimmy, Alex S & Christian worked up top & Kevin was also a strong, compelling force to be reckoned with. Tivin was a little under the weather, but held his own & nearly scored off of a free kick.

Goal 4 came on a pass under pressure from Jacob G; he calmly refused to cave to the pressure & passes to Jhonny. Goal five was the result of superb teamwork from the entire squad. Jimmy strikes hard; the keeper could not contain the ball & Alex S came in & cleaned it up. It was terrific teamwork all the way around!

Regrettably, Warrior manages to slip one just past Botsko on the final play of the game. 5-1 final, but wow--what a great effort all the way around.

Thank goodness for Twitter, because I would not get this all right without it!!

Great game, boys!! Keep up the fantastic work.
