MYAA enters into partnership with The Positive Coaching Alliance

MYAA has established a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to ensure a positive, character-building experience for all youth athletes in MYAA programs. PCA (www.PositiveCoach.org), a Stanford University-based non-profit organization, conducts workshops for coaches, organizational leaders, and parents involved in schools and sports organizations serving five-to-18-year-old athletes. PCA also provides workshops for high school athletes.

Working with hundreds of youth sports organizations around the United States, PCA has developed practical tools and guidelines to help youth athletes, their coaches and parents get the most out of sports.  We recognize the tremendous opportunity for character-building sports offers for today’s youth, so we are embracing PCA’s Double-Goal Coach® model, where winning is one goal and teaching life lessons is the second, more-important goal.

We are delighted to partner with MYAA,” said PCA Executive Director Jim Thompson. “Together, we’ll strive to help their youth athletes take a positive approach to pursuing victories in athletic competition and in life.”

Our first phase of the PCA Campaign was to indoctrinate the leaders of MYAA in a PCA Leadership course. This course was conducted earlier this year.

Our next step is to bring the PCA Message to all of the coaches of MYAA. The First PCA Coach's Clinic will take place on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 @ 6:30-8:30 @ the Shawnee High School Auditorium. The training is mandatory for all coaches in MYAA. The course is also available on-line if you cannot make the in person clinic. It is available a  http://shopping.positivecoach.org/Course/Double-Goal-Coach . The cost of the on-line session is $30.  However, because MYAA is a partner with PCA, we get a reduced rate of $15.  Please ask your sports commissioner for a discount code that can be used to reduce the price to $15.
